Debbie Wilkinson is a qualified Remedial Therapist who has a B Ed Psychology Honors degree as well as a BA Applied Psychology Honors degree from the University of the Witwatersrand.
She qualified in 2003 and has experience working with Primary school-aged children who require remedial assistance in the areas of reading (reading comprehension, fluency and speed, sight word recognition and decoding skills), writing (story writing, punctuation and sentence construction),spelling (sight words and knowledge of sounds) and mathematics. She also works with high school learners.
Debbie offers educational assessments as well as one-on-one therapy intervention, both at the child’s school or at her offices.
Remedial therapy is aimed at providing the child with support that is focused on developing his/her specific academic abilities, while building motivation, self-esteem and confidence. Therapy is structured, sequential, cumulative and multi-sensory and is focused on the individual needs of each child.
