What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a complementary healthcare profession based on
the principle of "like cures like." Homeopathic practitioners
consider the individual's physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing when
assessing health concerns and developing a treatment plan.
Homeopathy has been practised internationally for more than
200 years and is recognised as one of the professions regulated by the Allied
Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA).
In South Africa, registered homeopaths complete extensive
university-level training, including medical sciences, diagnostics, clinical
training, research, and supervised practical experience. Homeopaths are trained
as primary-contact healthcare practitioners and are qualified to assess
patients, make diagnoses, and provide treatment within their professional scope
of practice.
My Approach:
About Dr Celéste Vermaak...
I am a registered Homeopath who graduated from the
University of Johannesburg with a Master's degree in Homeopathy.
Prior to studying Homeopathy, I completed a Bachelor of
Science Honours degree in Environmental Management through UNISA in 2015. My
research investigated the role of microorganisms in the breakdown of coal mine
tailings, reflecting my longstanding interest in science and the natural world.
My passion for holistic healthcare led me to pursue a career
in Homeopathy. My Master's research explored the effects of homeopathic
preparations on drug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a bacterium of
significance within the healthcare sector.
My goal is to support patients in their pursuit of improved
health and wellbeing through a professional, compassionate, and individualised
approach. I recognise that every person is unique, with their own experiences,
circumstances, and health challenges.
By taking the time to understand each patient as an
individual, I aim to provide care that supports their overall wellbeing and
helps them make informed decisions about their health.
Dr Celéste Vermaak is a registered Homeopath with the Allied
Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA). Homeopathic treatment is
provided within the scope of practice prescribed by the AHPCSA.
